How To Repurpose Blog Content Across Social Media

I know most of you hate to hear this, but blogs aren’t dead.

They’re still a very important part of your wedding business strategy in 2022.

Most importantly, they’re typically free or very inexpensive to run. Which is perfect for those newbies out there. You want to maximize your effort on the less expensive marketing options, right? And you don’t want to put all your eggs in the Instagram basket. If you’ve been reading the blog a while, or following me on Instagram, you know this already.

As far as strategy goes, blogging is particularly important if you’re just starting out and you haven't booked many weddings yet.

In that case, your blog is the perfect place to serve up more wedding inspiration and style beyond your portfolio. This will catch your Ideal Client's eye, and establish you as an expert — the expert they've been searching for! Blogging is the perfect way to make it clear you know what you’re talking about, when you don’t have a portfolio to show this off already.

Blogging is equally important for SEO on your website and helping with web traffic.

I know that writing doesn’t come naturally to a lot of us, and we’d rather spend the time pinning, or catching up on Netflix. But hear me out:

Your blog is a content factory!

It’s not a task for the end of your to-do list, maybe when you have the time. And not just for featuring the weddings you’ve worked on.

By prioritizing blogging, you can treat it as the starting point for most of your social media posts.

Each blog posts should launch content across all of your platforms, including Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and more.

Here’s how to repurpose you blog posts for more content across your social media:

PINTEREST

For blog posts featuring real weddings, you’ll of course want to pin the images to your most relevant Pinterest boards. But what about topical informative posts? (Those posts that show you know your stuff) Create about 5-10 text based pins with a great headline and link them to your blog post. I love to use Canva for this, along with Creative Market for branded pin templates.

By pinning your content you’re increasing it’s shelf life significantly and this will help boost your web traffic as well. Notice how I placed Pinterest first? Because the content has serious longevity there.

INSTAGRAM

Probably the most obvious, you’ll want to use your blog content over on Instagram. Start by promoting your blog post directly in your Instagram stories with a call to action, directing readers read it with a link sticker. You can even use one of your Pinterest pin graphics for the story slide! Work smarter not harder. In stories, you can also speak about the tips in the blog post. Video and reel content is king! So don’t forget to turn the points in to a reel and invite questions from your followers.

Next, create a few Instagram grid posts with captions from the content of your blog post. At least one of the posts —ideally the first— should have a call to action to visit your site to read more. Be sure to spread them out.

Bonus points: Turn that series of related posts in to an Instagram guide.

FACEBOOK

Share the link for your blog post on your Facebook page as well as to your friends. This isn’t an option when you forward Instagram posts direct to your Facebook page by the way. Posting natively in Facebook is important to be able to optimize the post, add the link, adjust photos and so on.

Bonus points: If you use a prompt to encourage comments and engagement.

PRO TIP

If it’s relevant, don’t forget to share new blog content to your LinkedIn, Twitter, mailing list and more.
